I am a volunteer at The Women’s Room, which was co-founded by Caroline Criado-Perez, and Catherine Smith. My role is to organise volunteers who guest tweet on our twitter account every day, and making sure that runs smoothly.
The Women’s Room was set up to tackle the poor female expert representation in the media – with the current male to female ratio of 5:1. The media says that this is because there just aren’t that many female experts around, and the media just reflects the reality of the world. The Women’s Room is about proving this wrong, and so far over 2300 women have registered with us.
We were recently included in the British Libraries list of 100 website being saved for prosperity!
