We’re Erika and Erika!
We met at Smith College, an all women’s University in the States, and have been friends for 16 years. Smith is an amazing institution set up by a woman, for women. It is a place that, since 1875, has been churning out strong, intelligent, creative women out into the world to do what we women do best, LEAD.
One of the best lessons we ever learnt there was to find something that makes you happy and do it. We both come from a long line of women who baked and cooked. We love baking and we wanted to put our skills to use.
We opened The Black Cat Cakery two years ago. We bake mainly vegan cakes using lots of organic ingredients that we buy locally. Many of our cakes can be made without using processed sugar and to meet special dietary needs. Lots of people with special diets end up paying exorbitant prices for cakes. We bake healthy delicious cakes at affordable prices. We sell to local shops and cafes around Manchester and have recently started baking for birthdays and weddings.
Our good deed: Baking delicious vegan cakes that ”taste like ’normal’ cake, only better” for the people of Manchester.
