“Patchwork Lives” – A Play about Inspiring Women
I am Imogen Joyce, Artistic Director of Arletty Theatre, and I wrote “Patchwork Lives” in collaboration with groups all over Nottinghamshire. They were asked to give us stories about the women who have inspired them. Each story was detailed on a patch of fabric and sewn in to a patchwork quilt, which forms the backdrop to the play. It is a colourful and diverse as the women whose stories we have gathered. The play is now touring Nottinghamshire, before going to Buxton Festival. Amongst the amazing women we have collected and included in the play, there are pioneers, pirates, surgeons, pilots, Suffragettes, a female highwayman and a whole army of incredible grandmas! We are still collecting stories and will continue touring the play. Details of the project and tour dates can be found at www.arlettytheatre.co.uk/news.
