I am a feminist and a University lecturer who believes passionately in gender equality and in the power and the importance of education. I feel an enormous debt of gratitude to the suffragettes who struggled and often suffered abuse for the rights that I inherited and am proud to take part in remembering this legacy and taking it forwards and outwards.
My deed was to make a donation to a project to train 150 women teachers in South Sudan, via Catapult, a crowed funding organisation that focuses on projects supporting women and girls world wide. There are 100s of projects and it was very difficult to choose just one.
There will be a concert in Twickenham on June 1st with numerous pop acts, including Beyonce designed to promote and publicise Catapult.
